Ta Sam

Has any done any skins for Radicals yet? If I remember right, the radical grids are very dull without them. Am I right in thinking that skins only have to be installed on client side and not on server, and therefore they shouldn't cause much aggro? If its gonna cause grief then forget it Smiley

http://forum.racesimcentral.com/showthread.php?t=302110  some excellent skins in this thread and more in main skinning section on RSC, some more can be found at No-Grip in Race 07 downloads area.

I drive the Gitanes SR3 and the Pescarolo SR4 normally but skins seem to be more of a problem than was first thought judging by reports so far, times not being picked up, game synchro issues etc.  The game SHOULD just insert a default car if the skin is not on server and in everyone elses install, BUT, and it only is my reading on what actually happens using my experience with rFactor's behaviour as main reference, say the grid is 24 cars with 50% being addon skins and the rest ingame paints, now the game needs to insert 12 cars all the same model/paint and it takes a hissy cos it gets confused about who is driving what and where it is on track as all it has for info is netcode from each player to synch itself, lag = more confusion and steps get missed between server and client somewhere along the way.  I found the only way to get it even close to stable in rf was to have the server, and the clients, have all the skins/cars going to be used, which inturn made for a lot of admin work and negated the way the skins were meant to be handled in the first place  'tard! and I have not tried Race 07 yet becuase it needs to have every thing twice, all in client and again in dedi. .

Ta again Sam. Tis a shame that and I think I'll leave the skins alone for a while Wink. Far more important that it all runs smoothly.

The much maligned NK Pro has been the only sim I've seen where skins worked solely from client end. One of the few things that it got right.

Using your very nice setup on the 230hp SR3 works well without any changes at all... and isn't too much slower overall laptime, 1.xx secs only.

Sam,

Pete and I found in some 'test' sessions this afternoon that your setup tends to nibble on tyres after 2 or 3 laps...

4 or 5 clicks less camber front/rear plus a couple of clicks more wing lets them last a lot longer with no real impact on laptimes.

I'm not sure if it'll last 12 laps though

For those who have joined GBWTCC recently the server information is as follows.

Server is called GBWTCC

It is passworded and will be up on Saturday  15 th Dec for more Radical testing at Brno.

PM me or Davor for the password if needed.

Once you have the password it is the same for the other servers for GPL and GTL. As all these servers run from the same Jolt server only one sim is availible at any one time.

Not that my driving is representative, but I've just made above adjustments and done 13 laps, without any previous practice.  Roll Eyes

New PB on lap 7  Grin after that my laps got slower due offs  'tard!  and eventually me driving slower as I progressively got more understeer.  laugh The main point was the tyres will last but I think understeer will slow us all down.  Hammer But hey what do I know about driving fast.  Evil  Drink!
