i did little better, spun straight away then spun again , for some reason my 69 cars wander like buggery on the long runway it seems to dart about like a wet kipper.

Anyway on one trip down the runway engine blew car spun through the trees/fence green bit , so i gave up.

Well there are a couple of parts on this track where the car wanders, into Startkurvan and Hansen it gets pulled to the left but not on the straight.

A wise sage (evilclive) told me that they get twitchy with low ride height so try lifting it a bit.

"a wise sage"   rofl,

more like some poor tractor driver who was totally outclassed by Anders and Fulvio

My worst fears were confirmed when qually showed a that Anders and Natan  had  3 second advantage.   So just before going to the grid I dumped 3 notches of front and rear wing to try and gain some speed....which helped................slightly Undecided

I was just about hanging on to Natan and Anders for the first few laps, but it was clear that I was running at 99% and something had to give. Fortunately  Grin  it was Natan's engine that gave way, Anders was caught out by the shower of metal bits and took to the grass and I was gifted 1st place in the tractor.
It was early in the race and I just knew that Anders and natan should have enough time to catch me, so my only hope as to push as hard as I dared for as long as possible in the hope that they would have a problem. Fulvio had got his Brabham warmed up and although he was quicker appeared to have a few small probs and kept dropping back.
My lead was slowly erased as Anders and Fulvio battled and close the gap. If I was a better driver I might have defended my lead for the 2nd half of the race against 2 faster cars, but I'm not Undecided, so I didn't!! The pressure got to me and I lost it at the hairpin allowing Anders and Fulvio to whizz past and vanish in the distance.
After that it was a steady cruise to 3rd spot, which was better than I had anticipated at Anderstorp.

I would suggest that you do raise the ride height Pete if you find your car dancing sideways, also soften the susupension slightly to make the car more compliant. You cannot go fast if you are not comfortable with the handling...well I know I can't!!  Wink

BTW in common with a lot of circuits I find that there are specific points where the car is in explicably pulled sideways. Exiting the pits at Kyalami, after the hairpin at Snetterton and on the straight at Anderstorp. maybe someone with more knowledge can explain, but I always assumed that it was something to do with the "track building" software and a slight misalignment of the scenery???

It started off well enough with a 4th in qualifying and decent pace in the first half of the race. It seemed like the steering wheel lost its calibration because the car started veering off almost like Pete's description.

It didn't happen all the time, just occasionally, but it's just no good trying to get round these corners with an iffy steering calibration. Maybe it's time to get a new steering wheel, the one I have is six years old after all...  as usual in my case, next race can only be better.

Grats podium!

cheers

As I suspected Natan was quicker off the line in his McLaren and grabbed the lead into T1.
I put as much pressure as possible on Natan and saw my chance on lap two when got a little bit wide and onto the grass when we entered Flygrakan.
I slipstreamed a couple of carlenghts behind when parts from Natans McLaren started flying around me and he lost his speed, I braked turned to the right, lost it, slided only inches from Natans car, made a 360 on the grass and can rejoin the race again undamaged on fourth place behind James  Grin
I can overtake James a lap later when I braked later at the end of Flygrakan.
Some laps later I'm getting close to Fulvio and Clive that are having a fight, Fulvio gets sideways and stationary in Hansen and I can pass without hitting him, but it was close, very close. I start to put pressure on Clive, showing myself in the mirrors, looking down the inside when braking, and after a couple of laps Clive goes wide on to the grass in Hansen and I'm in the lead with Fulvio close behind me.
I push pretty hard and can slowly pull away and open up a decent gap.
It was a nice race on my "hometrack".
And I got a Hattrick again.
Grats to Fulvio and Clive for the podium finishes

Mmhhh my slowdowns and spins were to avoid a sideways 63      Grin

I was a bit rusty in 69 so I picked a Braby. Nice battles all around

Ciao
