Ah, that's an old story James Cheesy

After a strong debut race at Bugatti (2nd place finish?) Magnus did a strong impact to the field in Snetty T1. Few drivers are still in hospital Cheesy

I think it'll be safer if we all start from the pits and let you start normally Goose. That way we can see what you're up too Tongue

That was one of GBGPL s defining moments

I also remember we had someone try and join the top row of the grandstand at Albi, well in the picture from the replay it looked high enough , cant remember who it was .

Ahh it started so well, then ended up being one of my worst races ever  Undecided On the front row in quali, had a decent start then on the corner leading onto the straight I managed to carry more speed than Leffa ahead, got alongside and broke a little later for the hairpin to take the lead. I was managing to keep Leffa behind me without a huge amount of trouble early on, and I felt the car was quick. Fantastic! Just needed to sit tight and don't do anything stupid , but yeah, this was me driving so. . .  'tard! I must have broken a little late (although I didnt think I broke any later than normal) on the corner after the hairpin because I ran wide, hit the wall gently and spun losing 3 places. A few laps later I definitley broke too late at the same corner, miles too late and smashed into the wall resulting in a Shift-R and another 2 places lost. From there just focused on trying to catch Sid but no matter how much I pushed I didn't seem to be getting any closer but it wouldn't have mattered if I had because I managed to spin 5 more times between then and the finish! Don't know what happened really, I had done a race distance at Snetterton in training with no mistakes at all, and I had been pretty quick in my chassis so Im kinda gutted with my preformance ohh well. Grats to Leffa, Will and Bosse on the podium

"The unexpected success in my first race at Bugatti made me a bit too optimistic in the second."

Quite a decent driver excuse actually. Might be added to the database.

Actually while I think of it, I would also like to nominate this comment for the excuses database:

"I had a dream start, I just never recovered after my first spin."
(That's James, in chat earlier tonight  Wink).

In yet another attempt to try and make everyone forget about Snetterton in S2 (one of GBGPL's most challenging tasks), I think Mark C may also have started a tiny bit optimistic. But the main problem was that I sort of thought more about passing him and less about the braking point. So we may have tangled wheels a little bit going into T1, although it may have been mostly my car that hit his car a tiny bit more than his car hit mine...   ) and then suddenly there were Eagles circling around the Cooper. As in "birds", not cars. Most of the cars were on the ground where they should - in theory - have been moving around the track at speed instead of having for example no wheels and doing 0 mph.

But I think my driving has improved since then. Hasn't it?*

OMG...

*Not after Monaco last week doh

Apologies to Sid for bothering him during the race with an Eagle that hd no setup , other than a few guessed mods from the default just before the start. I even changed a few settings as we went to the grid ....NEVER a good idea Undecided

As a result the car was reasonably quick, but totally unpredicatable and beyond the computing power of my brain cell to master. So after bothering Sid twice and 2 Shift-R's I surrendered.

Nice to be back and join in the 67 pro season. Can't believe how quick James is nowadays. WD mate. Keep it up....or not. Smiley Have not raced the 67s since breaking my elbow but after a dozen laps, I found the groove with an old VB Snett setup and it was on. Great battle with Bo...we switched places a few times. After following Bo for several laps, I could tell he'd been to the fridge a few times before the race started. LOL. Good match though between the BRM and Fez.

Grats to the Leffa on the win.

Cheers,

Will

Clive, I wondered why you were faffing about behind me, when you usually pass eventually.
The high point of my race was thinking "Ooh, isn't that where I usually brake?" just as I smacked something hard and my front wheel disappeared into the crowd.

Thanks Will, here's another one for you, inspired by the above post:

I had a very god qually with a couple of 1.24s
Start went well and i got away safely but James was
close behind and on the long straight he could outrun me.
Chased him for some laps looking for a place to pass but he
did not leave any openings well done.
On lap 7 he spun and i could pass . After that it was a matter
of doing no mistakes as i pulled away from Bosse & Will.
I was able to hold it together and take the flag as winner
and with fastest lap it was a triple . Feels good.
thx for a good race
