Great race tonight, had never driven the Cooper at Monaco before, surprised by how well it went! Set times in Qual and the race that I would have been pleased with in the Lotus Cheesy Had a small tangle with Andy towards the end of the 1st lap unfortunatley. I was right behind him and he went a little too deep I think and had to slow down and I was taking my normal lime and speed through the corner and couldnt really avoid him Undecided Sorry! I felt guilty about passing him after that so I waited for him to get going then had a very close and fun battle with him for half the race  I got through a few times only to make a mistake or get a little too much wheelspin allowing Andy back through, but eventually he got the chicane wrong and lost a lot of speed, I went for the outside at Tabac where we had touched on the first lap, went through side by side and either Andy got too much wheelspin or he let though, dont know which. Either way it was a lot of fun! It was pretty lonely after that apart from encountering a few of the DFree drivers but still, really enjoyed that race! Grats Clive and Sid, see ya next week Smiley

Well I certainly made a pigs dinner of the Monaco race. I'm really angry with myself for the complete brain fade especially as I have many years of GPL experience and it was Arjen's first race with us.

So, sincere apology to Arjen Hiemstra, as the start crash was my own idiot fault altogether.

1) I forgot it was the DF start - I should not have been on the grid at all! Doh! Double-Doh!   hitsfan  hitsfan

2) I then tried to go to the right side to let the other cars by - this made things worse! as space is extremely limited at Monaco and I managed to put both myself (deservedly so) and AH out of the race.

I didn't think I could do any worse than the mass crash at Snetterton back in season 2...  but that was very possible...

Can't even blame the dog, as he wasn't driving yesterday.

I shall now go and hide somewhere, e.g. at the Queens Paws Pub somewhere in the great Time-Space Continuum (http://queenspaws.wordpress.com). Perhaps later on tonight I may be able to make my car a bit safer, for example by improving its downforce through a new and exciting innovation.

lol Magnus nice cartoon.

I almost made the same mistake, because I also joined the grid...force of habit I guess to hit the green button??

Fortunately I had only just made it onto the server and completed only a warm up lap, so I was lingering at the rear of the grid. I also then realised that I should have stayed in the pit lane, so I waited  and crawled slowly away. I crept past Magnus and his private wrestling match with Arjen  Wink and saw James and Andrew about  ( I thought) to launch from pit lane.

I cruised through St Devote waiting for the fast brigade to catch up. When Andrew and James appeared in my mirrors I upped the pace a little and waited for the tyres to warm up.

I'm not sure what happened behind me but I seemed able to ease away from Andrew and James without risking too much. I do enjoy Monaco and it is probably one of my best circuits in terms of results.
I passed a spectacular display by Pete on how to paint armco on both sides of the circuit by rubbing it from the bodyshell of your car. I hope my passing of other cars did not interfere with their progress, I tried to be ultra patient and pick my spot. Tried for a FL towards the endd but succeeded only in doing a 360 out of St Devote.

Grats to james for a) FL and b) discovering the joy of the Cooper around Monaco.

Nice first race for me, and I must say this is a very nice server!

My start was average, but the startcrash was good for me (sorry guys!) and I was 2nd after the start. Monaco is not one of my favorite tracks so I spun a few times. I also had a bit of a battle with Pete, and I hit him in the Station Hairpin (sorry for that Pete, stupid mistake!)  and so I finished 6th.

I try to race at Watkins Glen to, this is a very nice race and site!
